How to live in harmony with the world? Cosmological Ethics in Stoicism.

Do you live in harmony with the world around you? Or would you like to learn how? If you do not have the answer yet, do not worry. Since the dawn of philosophy, this question has stood at the centre of Greek philosophical enquiries. In the Hellenistic period, Stoic philosophers gave the problem a distinctive turn and offered one of the most ambitious and sophisticated responses: human happiness depends on living in harmony with a unified, rational, and divine universe. This course explores the meaning of Stoic 'Cosmological Ethics' and its contribution to contemporary debates on environmental ethics and ecologism.
